MEET THE HEROES BEHIND OUR TEAM
Our appreciation for service members and veterans extends to our own American Track family. We have asked some of our veteran employees about the most transferrable skills they brought from military service and how they’ve applied them here. Below, you’ll find their stories and insights on how their experiences have shaped their success at American Track.

The ability to adapt to any situation and to think quickly has really translated well into my civilian work life. On a submarine, you really have to be able to think on your feet and adapt to an environment that was always evolving and changing.”
Dustan Hesse
United States Navy, Submarine Force

Two of the most transferable skills I gained from the Military would be first, how I manage personalities. Toward the end of my 27-year career, I had 150 or so people under me, so I had to learn how to manage each one of them in order to complete the missions handed down. Additionally, I have been on all seven continents, so my ability to work in all different kinds of environments – something I deal with on a daily basis out on the tracks.”
Lance Gustafson
United States Air Force/Air Force Reserves

There are obvious skills most people associate with the military such as working hard, working under pressure, and integrity. However, I would say the most transferrable skill I learned was teamwork! Everything we did was only successful if we did it together. And not just going through the motions together, we had to really care about each other, respect each other, and push each other toward our shared goals.”
Robert Bloss
United States Marine Corps
